PERTHES DISEASE

PERTHES DISEASE

Britta Wells
(Forever Bits n’ Peaches, Aloe Vera Gel)

Our almost 6 years old son started complaining about
pain in his knee. As he is quite small for his age, I
thought it was growing pains and told him so. Six
weeks later he was still complaining. He was later
diagnosed with Perthes in his right leg. The top of
his bone, the femur was completely dead and he had
some movement restriction in his leg. We were told to
stop him from high impact movements, i.e. jumping
and running. Check ups later showed that the bone
still dying and the movement of the leg was being
restricted. During this time he often complained about
pain and sometimes limped quite heavily. My husband
and I were introduced to the FLP business and all
the family started to drink the Aloe Vera Gel. Since
then my son drinks about 30ml most days, varying
between Forever Aloe Bits n’ Peaches and Aloe Vera
Gel. Further checkups still showed the bone being
stagnant. The Doctors seemed surprised on how well
his movement restrictions in his leg started to get better
and we were told to come back in 4 month’s time. That
summer my son hardly complained about pain. The
next check up showed no real movement restriction
and from the x-ray the Doctor thought that the bone
was starting to grow again. This time he asked for the
next checkup to be in 6 months time. To my son there
just wasn’t anything wrong anymore. The Doctor had
always been informed on his physical activities and
his main concern for him was, not to jump, especially
heights. The next visit an x-ray showed a strong, yet
still growing bone. The physical examination did not
reveal any difference in the movement of both legs at
all! In the Doctor’s words: “He has got away without
having to have an operation” and “only looking at
the x-ray would anyone know that there is something
wrong with the leg.” He gave my son the all clear to
resume his activities. Wow, that was just 2 years and
four months after the first complaint of pain. This was
around half the time we expected having to deal with
this. There isn’t a happier boy around. Two days after
being given the all clear he was able to take part in the
school sports and came in third in his running race.
He doesn’t walk, he runs wherever he goes.
